Skopos are specialist suppliers of Crib 5 upholstery fabrics, for contract interiors. Crib 5 fabrics are designed and developed specifically for contract furniture in high-risk commercial environments (hospitality & leisure, care homes, student accommodation, prisons and offices) that meet the UK’s stringent BS 5852:1990 Section 4 Ignition Source 5 standard. They pass a test involving a wooden crate (crib) ignited on the fabric, ensuring the material will either fail to ignite or the flames will die out within 10 minutes. The test is a composite test and therefore requires specialist foam - the standard test involves 35kg foam. The test is significantly more difficult to pass than the Cigaratte and Match test (domestic products), and involvies a flame 16 times more intense than the match used in domestic testing.
All of the Skopos upholstery fabrics are crib 5 as standard and therefore do not require further treatment in order to comply with stringent British Standards.
